Lumen Meals

Lumen High School operates under the community eligibility provision of the US Department of Agriculture. We offer breakfast and lunch meals free of charge to all students attending Lumen. No forms are required to qualify for these meals however some students may be asked to submit a Childhood Nutrition Eligibility & Education Benefit Application at the beginning of each school year if they are not able to be directly certified.

Allergies and Special Diets

Partnering with parents, principals, doctors, teachers, nurrses and othe rschool support staff, we can create a plan to help meet your student’s special dietary needs. Our goal is to provide the safest possible enviroment for students. If you child has a emdical dietary need that requires food to be different or modified. Please contact our school nurse at 509-606-7888 to complete the appropriate care plan.

Student meal choice

Lumen works hard to provide nutritious meals that all student can enjoy, however we know that everyone’s taste buds can vary. While menus are set in advance, alternate meals can be requested if discussed with the nutrition services team with enough notice. Students can stop by the office of Jenna Carroll to discuss food preference ordering at their convenience.

Discrimination

Lumen takes the subjec to discrimation seriously and it is not tolerate in our school. If you feel that you have been the victim of a civil rights violation. To file a program discrimination compalint, a complainant should compelte form AD-3027, USDA Program Discrimination Complaint form which can be obtained online (click here), from any USDA office or by calling (866) 635-9992. Written submissions may also be submitted by letter but must contain the complaint’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discrimination action in sufficient detail to inform the assistant secretary for civil rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation. The completed AD-3027 form or letter must be submitted to the USDA in one of the following ways:

Summer Nutrition Information

Although Lumen does no serve meals during the summer months, meals for children are available at various locations in the greater Spokane area. Spokane Public Schools will be providing meals at a number of sites across their district and will include detailed information on their website during the late spring/summer months.
